British Costumes In the DHS Rare Book Collection

Visitors to the George Read II House in New Castle over the next two Saturday nights will witness words wound in woe and whimsy by William Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Ann Radcliffe and Mary Shelley.  The Delaware Historical Society is delighted to have performers from the Delaware Shakespeare Festival in the House at 6pm and 8pm October 17th and 24th.  In anticipation of their performances, we highlight a rare book in the Society’s collection which explores medieval costume design in England. The book is titled British Costume and was published in 1846.

This Old Book appears on this blog every Wednesday morning.
