Remembering World War I on Memorial Day

Wilmington, Delaware’s Private B.P. Meginniss describes the desolation of war in a newspaper column, seen in today’s post. He says “Soldiers, birds and rats the only signs of life” in Verdun and surrounding French landscapes.
