Remembering The First World War : Halloween, 1916

The Sunday Star newspaper of late October, 1916 is curiously silent on matters concerning the war in Europe. One would hardly know a war was even occurring by the mundane tone and lack of coverage in this particular issue. It is as if the editors had war coverage fatigue. In local news, the creation of Claymont, Delaware’s Worth Steel Plant is announced , the Republican Party ticket,  motor car advertisements, and the weekly fare of silent movies.
