Remembering World War I

Early to mid May of 1917 saw an Allied Spring offensive on the Salonika Front; the Second Battle of Bullecourt, part of the second phase of the Second Battle of Arras;  Second Battle of the Cerna Bend, a phase of the Allied Spring Offensive. Also, Australian Prime Minister Billy Hughes wins a majority in federal elections with the pro-conscription Nationalist Party.

Soldiers Paul Rossell, Sam Piccirilli and Hugh Carter are remembered today, along with headlines in the newspaper of early May, 1917.
